The NHRA National Open at Toronto Motorsports Park will feature competition in five NHRA sportsman categories, over May 30 – June 2, 2019 as well as six Race Cayuga Sportsman Series classes, in each of which the winners will receive a coveted Wally trophy.
The event will feature two single day events, one Saturday and one Sunday, in which competitors in Stock/Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street will compete for a daily event title and purse. Also competing at the event will be the Race Cayuga Sportsman Series, which features competition in Quick Sportsman, Super Pro, Mod, Street, Bike & Sled and Junior Dragster classes.
The Stock/Super Stock Shootout, presented by John Scotti Cars & CDRHF.com, will feature a $6,000 USD to win prize each day, with payouts starting in the round of 16 cars remaining in competition for a total daily purse of $12,500 USD.
As a special incentive, IHRA Stock and Super Stock racers typically not permitted to compete in NHRA events based on classification (i.e. Crate Motor Stockers, Stock GT, Pure Stoc), will be permitted to compete at this event provided they pass all NHRA safety/licensing rules. Racers wanting to compete at this event can obtain an NHRA license and chassis certification at the event.
Pre-registration for the Stock/Super Stock component of the event is being done by the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame through its website.
In each of the .90 index classes, each day’s winner will receive yet to be announced payouts. In the event that car counts are below four in multiple index classes, these classes will be combined to run one eliminator.
IHRA competitors wishing to obtain crossover licensing and chassis certification will be able to do so on-site at the event. The following criteria must be met;
– Must bring current IHRA license and two (2) time slips from the past 12 months with you, or utilize the Friday test session at the event
– Cars running 9.99 or slower, and less than 135 MPH
o 1 year NHRA membership ($120 USD)
– Cars running quicker than 9.90, or faster than 135 MPH
o 2 year NHRA membership ($240 USD)
o NHRA chassis certification ($170 USD)
Race Cayuga Sportsman Series classes will run with a 100% payback to racers during the event. This is a point’s race for the series, but non-points racers are welcome to compete in any class without paying the season point’s membership fee at this event.
For racers visiting from the United States, a valid passport will be required to cross the border. You may also choose to print a copy of the border crossing letter specific to the event.
